I think that Arnold couldn't have a normal child, he had a hard childhood because of his illness, other kids saw him different, and don't want to threat with him, apart of his illness, his family was in a big poverty, so it was hard to threat with his problem, and they couldn't have things that others families may have in those time, and having just one friend, and having it in a bad health status must crush him, poor guy, he was loosing his dog, his firs and true friend, he have suffer a lot.
